Red Oxide Primer Coat

Red Oxide is a lead-free, oil-based, high-quality, rust-resistant primer and would have been similar to the original finish on steel components supplied by the Rover Company.

However, this coating does not provide adequate coverage inside the box sections and we recommend Waxoyl application or a similar product for the inside areas.

Powder Coating

Powder coating is one of the most hard wearing and cost effective finishes available for exposed vehicle components. The manufacturer guarantees against corrosion for 15 years.

Giving nearly 100% coverage, the coating - a thermoplastic or a thermostat polymer is electrostatically applied, after which it's cured with heat to allow it to take on the part's shape, forming a tough skin, as it does so.

Powder coating does not penetrate fully inside complex box sections.

Wet Paint Finish 

If you wish us to pre-paint your bulkhead to the final vehicle colour we can also do this, but only to RAL or BS paint codes. We offer no guarantee of colour or shade matching. We can also use your supplied paint if you require a colour match. We require a minimum of 2 litres of your chosen paint.

Zinc Metal Spray

This metal-spraying technique is the latest innovation and provides a long life coating of 10 to 25 years.

The process is often specified in preference to galvanizing for its ease of application and avoids the risk of distortion to thin sheet metal.

Due to the applicator nozzle size, the zinc cannot be sprayed inside box sections.

Phosphate Coating

Phosphate coatings are used on steel parts for corrosion control or as a foundation for subsequent coatings or painting. It serves as a conversion coating in which a dilute solution of phosphoric acid and phosphate salts is applied via spraying or immersion and chemically reacts with the surface of the part being coated to form a layer of insoluble, crystalline phosphates

Coverage is 100% including inside box sections.

Finish is a dark matt grey, ideal for primer coat.
