There appears to be several versions of this early or Type 1 bulkhead. Provisionally we will use a decimal system to differentiate them as follows:

Type 1.1

  • Pedal box reinforcement plates without holes for the steering box stiffener brackets. Possibly only used on 88" models?
  • Punched holes in Z-stiffener and Parcel Shelf to Inner Vent Panel Stiffener for Ventilator Screw Control brackets.
  • No hole in gearbox tunnel to access the bleed nipple of the clutch slave cylinder.
  • Wings or fenders fitted with square nuts in spot-welded cages inside the door pillars.

Type 1.2 (Pegasus first reference bulkhead)

  • Pedal box reinforcement plates with holes to fit the steering box stiffener brackets.
  • Punched holes in Z-stiffener and Parcel Shelf stiffener.
  • No hole in gearbox tunnel to access bleed nipple.
  • Wings or fenders fitted with square nuts in spot-welded cages inside the door pillars.

Type 1.3

  • Pedal box reinforcement plates with holes to fit steering box stiffener brackets.
  • Slotted holes in Z-stiffener and Parcel Shelf stiffener to ease alignment.
  • Hole in gearbox tunnel to access bleed nipple.
  • Wings or fenders fitted with square nuts in spot-welded cages inside the door pillars.

Type 1.4

  • Pedal box reinforcement plates with holes to fit steering box stiffener brackets.
  • Slotted holes in Z-stiffener and Parcel shelf stiffener.
  • Hole in gearbox tunnel to access bleed nipple.
  • Wings or fenders secured with detachable Spire nuts.
